M.I.A. “Y.A.L.A.”

After the release of “Bad Girls” last Janurary, M.I.A.’s long awaited new album “Matangi” has been, well, long awaited. M.I.A. always brings something fresh and breaks things up in pop music with what she brings musically. So far, “Bad Girls,” “Come Walk With Me,” “Bring the Noize,” and now “Y.A.L.A.” are all indicators that M.I.A. has matured even more so musically with this new album and I’m excited as hell! I’m taking my boyfriend to see her live in L.A. on November 11th!

With all that said, I can’t wait for “Matangi” to be released, but lets be real, I can’t wait for it to leak so my impatience can be satisfied.

M.I.A.’s New Album “Matangi” Deemed “Too Positive” To Release

Oh.

According to a recent interview, M.I.A. turned in her finished album months ago, but has since been trying to decide what to tweak because her record label, Interscope, told her that the material was “too positive” for the image they helped her to create. That’s why I always say “you ain’t gotta like to kick it.”

And I don’t get it. I’m assuming its the back of her album cover with a possible track list. A possible track list that doesn’t include my shit, “Bad Girls.”

In true M.I.A. fashion, the artwork she revealed is simple/Myspace/tacky. No glitz, no glamour. Looks like something she would wear as a shirt, tbh.

It’s weird that she posted that because earlier today I posted that she didn’t give a shit about me waiting for her album. She probably reads this blog while eating Top Ramen Oriental Flavor with egg cooked inside. One can dream.

M.I.A. has some ‘splanin to do

3/5 VMA Video of the Year Nominees Are Dumb

Seems like it was slim pickens this year because Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake” was awful. Goyote’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” looked like something Tegan and Sara wouldn’t do five years ago. Drake’s “Take Care” featuring Rihanna, well, I didn’t even know there was a video for that. I’m just going to assume it’s lame, like the rest of his videos. Well, I’ve never watched a Drake video, so I’m just being sassy. The only two worth the Video of the Year nomination are Rihanna’s “We Found Love” and M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls.

I’m going to go ahead and say that “We Found Love” is Rihanna’s best video to date although, I do hate that denim mess she wears when she storms out of the car.

M.I.A’s “Bad Girls” better win Video of the Year. I’m serious. That video had me “bouncing like a trampoline” in my room, almost getting caught by my sister walking by. When I rap that song in the car, I have the same accent she does. Only thing that bothers me about the video is that I can’t drive my car off to one side. One of my tires has something stuck in it so I’m a little iffy on trying that until I can get that taken care of.

And don’t say “oh the VMA’s don’t matter.” Yes.They.Do. They matter to 12 year old girls like me.

The real Video of the Year wasn’t nominated, but its posted below.
